High Peaks Pure Earth has translated a music video by Tibetan singer Namgyal Choetso titled “The Call of Unity”, taken from her second album “Uncles” which was released on August 26, 2013. The whole album can be seen on YouTube here.
This video marks a change of pace in the music video series with a female singer in the spotlight this week and also as the song is rather cheerful and upbeat! However, the themes of unity and reunion are familiar ones in contemporary Tibetan songs. Namgyal Choetso has in the past sung a cover version of Phayul Mayul originally by exile Tibetan artist Phurbu T. Namgyal and Phurbu T. Namgyal’s song “Jelyong” was also the basis of this song “Let’s Go Together” by Dekyi Tso.
