Now that the long winter months are facing us, it’s time for an update to our reading list on books related to all aspects of Tibet to help get everyone through. Apologies if you came looking for a music video today, due to technical problems with the site most of today, High Peaks Pure Earth only has time for this one post now. Check back next Wednesday for another powerful music video from Tibet and enjoy the existing music videos for now.
We’ve added the following ten books to the existing list, some are new and some are now available for the Kindle. Here are the new additions to the list:
- “Like a Yeti Catching Marmots: A Little Treasury of Tibetan Proverbs” By Pema Tsewang, Shastri
- “Yak Horns” By Bhuchung D. Sonam
- “The Museum on the Roof of the World” By Clare Harris
- “Chinese Characters” Edited by Angilee Shah and Jeffrey Wasserstrom
- “Sources of Tibetan Tradition” Edited by Kurtis R. Schaeffer, Matthew T. Kapstein and Gray Tuttle
- “The Spread of Tibetan Buddhism in China” By Dan Smyer Yu
- “The Tibetan History Reader” Edited by Gray Tuttle and Kurtis Schaeffer
- “Beyond Shangri-La: America and Tibet’s Move into the Twenty-First Century” By John Kenneth Knaus
- “Religious Revival in the Tibetan Borderlands” By Koen Wellens
- “The Black Hat Eccentric: Artistic Visions of the Tenth Karmapa” By Karl Debreczeny
As always, we encourage readers who have read any of these books to leave a comment or submit a short review… if you have any of your own recommendations, please let us know!
